Röbel/Müritz – the colourful town by the ‘little sea’
The renowned holiday resort of Röbel/Müritz, with its two imposing early-Gothic church towers that can be seen from far and wide, lies on the waterfront at a branch of Lake Müritz and is nestled within a gently rolling landscape inland.
Its sheltered location and tranquil ring-shaped streets, lined with many colourful half-timbered houses, convey a sense of security and timelessness. In particular, the restored windmill, which stands proudly on Burgberg in the heart of the town, offers visitors a glimpse into the world of craftsmanship and tradition as they stroll through the medieval town centre.
In the municipal Bürgergarten behind the Haus des Gastes, you can linger under old trees by the water and let your gaze wander into the distance.
The small town boasts a beautiful, long waterfront promenade with landing stages for passenger boats, as well as inviting restaurants and cafés.
The old boathouses, some of which are thatched, lend Röbel/Müritz a very distinctive maritime charm, together with the modern waterway rest area, the sailing harbour and the town harbour.
